Conversion to digital speedometer

Tried searching the forums, but couldn't come up with an answer.
When changing to a digital speedometer, and therefore removing the original speedometer cable. Should the "gear unit assy" (https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/ ... ront-wheel) part be still installed normally, and the speedometer connection point (threaded part) be just covered with something? Or is there a standard way how to proceed with this
