Two Man Touring, Load Capacitys

My girlfriend and i are wanting to tour a littlebit with the XJ600. We are both around 100kg and felt that the rear shock was not enjoying the ride as much as us! Anything we can do to increase load capacity as im looking to put a pannier soon.
