Emulsion tube placement question

As I am reading up on the cleaning the carbs forum on here I noticed that the fellow said that emulsion tubes must be placed back where they came from. My mistake is that I have all the emulsion tubes mixed up and I don't see why they need to go back into their original spots. Any info would be great.
Hope the image I uploaded works, each tube has a part number engraved on it. They are all the same except the last number. (Which COULD indicate what cyclinder it belongs to) BUT the last number on two of them is 2 and on the other two is 4.
