Fuel delivery problem

Hello all. I need help diagnosing my fuel issue. The bike fires up and runs very briefly - about 1 second - and then dies. Then it wont start again immediately. After several hours of sitting it will start again and die. With starting fluid it does the same thing.
I have removed the tank and with the petcock in prime the fuel flows, in RES and ON there is no fuel coming out.

With an auxiliary fuel tank gravity feeding to carb it starts right up and stays running like it should.

With the fuel tank hooked up to fuel pump and fuel pump not hooked to carb, bike starts and runs on fuel already in carb, fuel then comes out of line at a steady trickle. Haynes manual says there is no way to test fuel pump, no specs for pressure. It put out about a 1/2 cup in 1 minute.

So, initially I was thinking carbs are not pulling fuel from the bowls, but that now seems OK. Petcock OK.
Do I just blindly change out fuel pump and hope?
Could the inline fuel filter just suddenly restrict flow?

Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks
