Rear brake bleed problem

I took my rear caliper off so all the fluid was drained completely.
Put it back on and I'm following Radare's guide to bleed the new fluid through.
I loosen the bleed nut, push down brake pedal, hold down and tighten the bleed nut.
Release brake pedal, then when I loosen the bleed nut again it sucks fluid up the tube from the one inch of fluid I have in a tub on the ground. It's like it wont suck the fluid from the master cylinder. Could there be a blockage in the pipes?
The brakes were working fine prior to me taking the caliper off.
Thanks
