Changes to Site's Main Theme

I've been messing around with the site's main theme a bit lately, updating icons and simplifying colors/textures to improve load times and displays on various screen resolutions.
The sticky and announcement icons have been slightly altered to differentiate them from standard icons.
The background image has been replaced with a colored flat background instead. This saves us about 256kb of data transfer on the main screen.
Do you like the current color of the background? It is driven on the image at the site's header and will change when the image changes. Do you like it or would you prefer I set a static black/grey like the original textured background?
