hi guys n' gals, and' others,' i'm new to xjrider, and not a computer-geek, have mercy! so here goes. i'm over 81 but not yet 82, i've ridden bikes continueously since the 1950's, starting with a 1938 ariel 350 red hunter, then a 1938 998cc hrd, (for-runner to the vincent, and it would be worth serious $$$ now! it would do well over the 'ton', (to non anglophiles 100 mph) not bad for an old bike. iv'e owned and ridden many many bikes, road raced in england and the usa, desert raced, trials, scrambles, etc etc. i was a factory road-tester for NSU , a german bike, etc etc. BUT i've never owned a seca ll, till now. i've browsed many of the posts on this site and wow, the knowledge, and willingness to help others is very heart warming. i hope to be able to contribute in any way i can, though, obviously i'm not a 'seca guru! i'd never even seen a seca ll till i saw the craigs list pics ! the best red for a bike and $1500 . i was hooked! problem is, i had both knee joints replaced a while back , as well as various other 'bits n' pieces' , and they don't function as well as my 'old' ones, so sitting on the bike i could'nt get my feet on the pegs, so had to ride home with both legs 'flailing' in the wind!, couldn't shift or use rear brake, i got it into one of the gears and had to slip the clutch at times. to those of you that are thinking 'get a scooter', i've got one, a 500 three-legged piaggio, but it don't have a tank between my knees! anyhow, i've lowered the pegs 4inches, still have 10inches from road. the shift now is 'triumph' pattern, 1 up, the rest down. no biggy, i used to race a triumph and ducati, and a BSA engined sidecar unit on the same day, so had to adapt, quickly!. also i built a center stand out of three junk stands, don't know what they were off of, but the local ,dealer gave them to me. also i built 'crash bars' out of some water pipe. i'll try to post pictures , maybe theres somebody out there needs a good laugh! triker
