Hi from France !!

Hi everyone !
I'm from Troyes in France, I'm 22, 5th year in computer engineering studies, I love doing robotic and electronic projects.
I had my licence 2 years ago and Ibought my 1998 Diversion one year ago, but I was allowed to unleash its full power just 2 months ago !! Before I was restricted to 34HP
Here is a picture of my bike :

I love tinkering, but until last week I never touched to any motorcycle or car or anything with an engine... I was too afraid of breaking something expensive !! But I don't have 2 left hands and my student budget forces me to go ahead, and that's a good thing, I'll never learn better than by doing things by myself !!
I had 1 main concern which triggered my need to put my hands in it : I had a really strong rattle when idling, and I really wanted to fix this.
It seems to come from the clutch, I've seen many videos about the dowel pin clearance, but I don't remember where, someone said that this clearance is normal, and that if it rattles, this means that there is an issue with carburetors. So I've followed Radare's great "how to clean and rebuild Seca II carburetors", the inside was pretty clean, but when assembling back the thing, I've checked the sync, and it was just awful, 2 of the butterflies were totally closed at idle
I don't have vacuum gauge, so I've done the sync just "by eye", until I'll make my own tool to compare vacuum with oil level. And the rattle is almost gone, I think it will be perfect with a real sync
Now I've to check the valve clearance, and then I'll install my new K&N air filter and new jets (main 105 and pilot 20), check carb float height, tune the pilot screw (never done on the bike, it's still at 3 turns as specified by Yamaha).
The O2 sensor thing seems pretty interesting, but that's not in my budget, and I don't really like the idea of drilling my exhaust
I don't have IR thermometer, so the best solution is to adjust it to have the highest idle, isn't it ?
Thank you in advance for your help and have a good day
EDIT : english correction
