Where to locate O2 bungs

I'm planning on getting some O2 bungs welded to the downpipes in order to adjust the pilot screws with an AFR guage. In that connection I would like to get some recommendations on were to locate the bungs so that I will get the most precise and correct reading. I guess there is also a practical standpoint to consider.
