Hey everyone,

Over the past weekend I bought a 1993 XJ600s! I have to say a big thanks to the great community here for providing such an amazing resource when considering and comparing different bikes. I definitely did some lurking while shopping around.

This is my first street bike, I have ridden motocross (primarily YZ's) most of my life and have wanted a street bike for a long time. I finally made it happen. I looked at and considered a few different bikes in my search but I am very happy with my choice, and I say that without even having ridden it yet. It is a fixer-upper. I bought the complete bike for only $300!! I know what you are thinking, "$300, it must be a mess." It is not, I think I got the deal of the decade here. The biggest fix it needs is fork seals, which I think I am going to take to the local Yamaha shop because I have never done fork seals (street or dirt) myself and would rather spend the money and have them done right. Other stuff it needs is all pretty simple and my buddy and I will be doing mostly ourselves. Tank is a little rusty so working on that, it needs a battery, tires and just a good cleaning and tune up. Aside from the front fairing being cracked and all plastic a bit discolored it is a solid bike and with a few more bucks and a couple hours in the garage it will be ready to enjoy.

I have big plans to make this a naked XJ and after looking through all of your photos on here I am inspired and so excited to make this bike my own. I cannot wait to get it running, I have ordered some parts already like sprocket and chain set, oil, fuel and air filters, break pads and stuff like that. Still deciding on tires. Right now I have Kenda Cruisers bookmarked since I saw mention of those working well on various threads here. They are also not to expensive which I like since I am buying other parts and still have to get myself a street helmet, jacket and other gear.

Anyway, Can't wait to get this thing on the road and I will try and post some pictures as I work on it.
Are there any NY/NJ XJ-ers out there? Would love to ride with some of you guys. My friends all have big Harleys and stuff like that.

Thanks again guys.
