Cutting out with strong winds???? What in the world

Ok, this one has me baffled! I'm riding home a couple nights ago and it's kinda windy, just in gusts though, and I noticed every time I got hit with a big gust on my chest the bike just kinda cut out! Nothing noticeable at higher revs or under acceleration but mostly lower cruising rpm range in higher gears. It wasn't a clutch slip but more like the air fuel mixture got really screwed up or something... Almost like I was running out of gas (yeah, done that a time or two...). I had about 2 gallons in there so I put another few dollars in yesterday before going to work and had the same conditions riding home...did the same thing! I am perplexed guys!
