Newbie from Bristol

Hello everyone, I am Martin from Bristol UK, moved here about a year ago from Portugal, where almost all the roads end at the beach and the sun still shines in the winter, something that i'm missing quite a bit.
Just bought my 1st ''Big Bike'' it being, a lovely red 97 XJ600S Diversion.
I got it at an police auction down in London, a bit mistreated and neglected, with busted ignition, indicators and mirrors.
For 130£ I didnt think twice and brought it home. I'm a sucker for cheap deals.
New ignition fitted, had to make my own connections because no one seemed to sell the ''male'' 2 pin and 4 pin plugs for these connectors  , and a new set of indicators and mirrors on the way .
Recently today I came across a problem, it will not start! As soon I press the Start button nothing happens, only the oil indicator light comes on, I did find a blue and white cable that connects to a little black box ( i think a relay of some kind) completely corroded....could this be the main problem?
Here she is on pick up day.

This is how she is at the moment

Hope to get her looking good again
