Gaskets

A dumb question, so as I'm tearing down my '93, I'm finding some buildup of oil/dirt gunk stuff down the outside of the cylinder head, looks like it might be starting at the head cover. So I'm thinking maybe just old gunky dirt, or maybe bad gaskets...
I'm looking at oem gaskets from Bikebandit:
:yikes: $72.09 for a cylinder head gasket, $56.25 for a head cover gasket, $20.70 for a cylinder gasket
I have a $500 bike because money is short. Has anyone used any Liquid Gasket Products? And how did it work? Or any other ideas for anything else cheaper? I've seen some various gaskets on Ebay.
