RICKS REGULATOR LIT ON FIRE!!!!

well as the title suggests.... My ricks regulator LIT on FIRE! just now. I just got done putting the new motor in, and modified the exhaust and tuned it. Well I'm about an hour (walk) from my house, I look down and boom! THERES A FIRE! then the motor cut off. And ain't nobody got time to dat. I tested the voltage prior to riding and everything was about 14 volts or so. Why would it light on FIRE? I need help, this is the third regulator I've put on this bike.
