Link pipe size?

Hi all,
I'm looking at modifying my exhaust as I'm really not a fan of the stock mufflers.
I'm looking at getting some shorty reverse cone mufflers which have an inlet of 44mm and can adapt down to 38mm.
The muffler currently on the bike (think is stock) cannot just slip off as the muffler is welded to the link pipe which runs under the bike to what I think is called a "collector" where it can be disconnected from the down pipes.
So I'm looking at running a new link pipe, however I need to know the size of the tubing which currently connects to the "collector". Does anyone know for sure, I've measured with a tape and think it's 35 mm but I'm worried it wasn't accurate.
