How does engine oil get to the XJ's Gearbox/Transmission

Does the gearbox get lubricated via the oil pump, or just by way of it sitting in a bath of oil?
I ask because I work nights and coast (with the engine off) down a long long hill right from my house all the way to the main road - saves me a few pennies fuel and saves waking the neighbours up.
Thing is - even though its in neautral the gear shafts are still turning (I think!), so am I damaging my gearbox?
