Seat with Built-in Tail Bag

Something I had done on my SV650 (I miss that bike) was attach a tail bag to a spare seat. I used a Nelson Rigg tail bag, cut down it's mounting flaps and stapled it to a rashed rear seat. This allowed me to easily pop-on and pop-off the tail bag and to also to use it without having to run straps and clips and such which could scratch the paint.

I've been thinking, for some time, about doing this to the XJ. Tonight, I found a good deal on a stock Seca II seat and decided to get it with the intention of doing just this. I also put in an offer on a CL-100 tail bag. My intention is to recover the Seca II seat and then staple the tail-bag (or otherwise affix) over the passenger portion. Then, when I have a day or longer trip and want to carry some things, I can swap my stock seat for the tailbag seat.

More to come. Stay tuned . . .
