Oxford Heated Grips - Regarding Wiring

For my early birthday, my lady didst a sweet deed and got some heated grips for me. They're fantastic! I rode in 20F down the highway and they were quite a delight for my tendrils.
However, even when off, they drained the battery dead over the course of a workday. Did anyone of you who have them wire in a relay or wire them into the headlight to completely cut the power from the battery?
