Hi guys,
I am a very very new rider. I have less than 5 hours on a street style bike and maybe 20-50 hours on a dirtbike. Ive riden quads and three wheelers so i am not brand new to the whole clutch thing just mostly 2 wheels. I own a 1992 Yamaha Seca II xj600. My first bike!. I am a medium to small build 165 pounds at 5"6 and this bike feels Gigantic to me. When i first aquired the bike which was used ofcourse i stoped on the side of a not so busy road to look at what i thought were tools or something of that sorts. I leaned over just a bit and the weight of the bike pressed on my knee. I tried to save the bike from dumping but due to my foot and knee being in an awkward possiby under the bike area. My knee felt like it tore and down went the bike as i got out from under it. In a panic mode i tried picking it up as i did not know what to do i could feel my knee something wasnt right and down it went again, this time shifting into first and moving itself a few feet. By now i was extremely embarassed and was looking for witnesses. I got it started and Drove home which was about a block. I parked it and there it sat. I had trouble walking for close to 2 months after this and it sort of discouraged me from rideing and i have been having alot of second thoughts. I Just recently started riding small rides to the store and to the gas station no more than 2-3 miles at a time. I really like my bike and i am interseted in customizing it to fit my style which seems to be more of a street fighter look. Everytime i go for a ride i can feel the adrenaline start pumping. I think i need to do some squats and start working out my leg muscles. Thanks guys let me know what you think.
