Hey guys. I've been riding a few months the the most screwed up ex500 ever. Finally went and got a Yamaha like I wanted. I got a 1996 SECA2 with 12,000 miles on it. Never down, very clean. This is my second day with the bike. I've put about 120 miles on it since I got it. Not one issue. Tonight I'm riding along and it starts to feel a little funny. I think nothing of it, pull up to the stop sign, go to take off and it turns off. Now I'm thinking hey, I'm new, probly stalled it. Restart it, go to take off, dies. I pull the choke half way out and try again and nurse it the 2 blocks home still running rough. I park it and put it in neutral and rev it to listen for anything. As I open the throttle, gets to about 1500 rpm and drops. I pull the choke out all the way and hit the starter and it jumps right to 4000 rpm. Then I close the choke and she's still idling fine. Turn off and on to test, fine. Pull the throttle to test it out. Right up to 3500 and back. Pop her in first and head around the block a few times. About 20 minutes later. It starts again. This time after I stall out, it won't start even with the choke all the way out. I sit down the block a few minutes pissed at the second bike to not work for me, try again, choke open and it starts but still rough. So I give it as much throttle as it can take and power walk it off. After it gets going, it evens out a little so I close the choke all the way and it's fine. Runs normal again. Get home, shut it off and restart successfully. Then rev to 4000 just fine.
