Float Heights aka Carb Fuel Levels

Last season, before the rally, I wet set the float heights on my 92 to 6mm below the line. Since then, the bike has had a stumble off idle when warm. The spark plugs have confirmed that the middle cylinders are lean. #2 is quite lean.
The carbs are all clean, the pilot screws adjusted appropriately at idle, and #20 pilot jets are fitted.
After some thought, it occurs to me that as float height increases, fuel level decreases and the bike becomes more lean.
I typically set my float heights at 8mm dry and performance is quite good at my elevation, with the exception of just off idle. To remedy this, I am considering resetting them as follows:
Outside cylinders: 7.2mm float height, dry.
Inside cylinders: 6.2mm float height, dry.
This would richen up the outer cylinders a mild bit and would richen the inside cylinders a bit more.
Do you all think this will help with the lean condition?
