R&D: XJ Specific Sidemounts for GIVI Monokey Bags

I have been thinking about the second version of side mounts to fit GIVI Monokey bags to my XJ600. I want the second version to be made from something other than steel, require no welding and be a bolt-on affair which doesn't utilize the passenger pegs in any way shape or form.
I think I can use 1/4" aluminum and build a two-piece bracket which consists of a frame adapter and a sideplate. The frame adapter would bolt to the XJ's stock frame mounts at the undertail. The sideplate would then attach to the frame adapter using a specially designed spacer.
The benefit to doing it this way is that you could remove the sideplate while leaving the frame adapter in place; this would clean up the appearance when the bags weren't in use.
Here's my first attempt at the sideplate. It would utilize SW Motech hardware to hold a GIVI Monokey bag (like the E21). I need to measure the geometry of my frame mounts before coming up with the frame adapter.
All that being said, what do you all think regarding sidebag mounts? Any feedback would be appreciated!
