Valve tap gone after oil change .

I've had a valve tap for a few months now (shame on me I know) it's pretty much ever since I changed the oil in my bike and used wilkos own brand 10w30 oil in my bike.
Now I've just changed my oil to castrol magnatec 10w40.
Now I have 2 questions
1. I've just read on there site that castrol don't 'recommend' using magnatec in bikes as they have a bike specific oil you should use instead.
They at no point say 'not' to use it though.
They just say the bike ones better for the gearbox.
What are people's opinions? Are they just trying to sell me the same oil at a higher price with a bike picture on it or would I actually benefit from going for the bike specific one next time?
2. My valve tapping is gone!
I'm still going to do my valves as I have ordered the tools already but has anyone ever heard of a valve tap ever just disappearing?
My idle is lower and the engine isn't getting ANYWHERE near as hot.
I'm worried, confused and glad all at the same time loo
