Bad starter gear?

So I think I might be in trouble here folks...I think i have ground down the teeth on my starting gear due to it being "hydrolocked" from leaving the the fuel on PRI instead of ON. So what I am wondering is if I should attempt to fix this problem myself or if I should let the professionals handle this. I have the service manual and a lot of patience but need some advice from some professionals here. I am including a video and have another too I can post if it's wanted. I think it is hyrdolocked because it tried to start and then there was a thud and this noise started...I'm so wondering if this will be an expensive fix if that's at all possible to find out. I've also heard ifI take out the spark plugs and turn the engine over (which i think means hit the starter with no plug) then the fluid that could be in there will be expelled.
