Yesterday I finally got around to fixing the rotted out bottom on my project 600S. This tank had been Kreemed unsuccessfully by previous owner and this coating had failed inside the tank. The entire petcock area and right side seam had rusted through in pinholes and then been covered with epoxies. I removed all the epoxy and cut out the bad metal. Then formed a sheet metal panel to fit the bottom.

Then brass brazed it in place with a torch. The tank has been cleaned well with degreaser and dry for over a year so I figured it was safe.

The whole process took about four hours to get this far.

Today I will re-braze the couple of pinholes that I found with soapy water while the tank was pressurized with air. If that fixes it I hope to get this old project back on line and do the paint work and call it a done.
