Removing carb heater?

Hi,
I'm in Sydney, Australia and don't think I need my carbs heated - can only imagine that the Aus. bikes have them because we just got the UK/Canadian model?
Anyway, I like a clean, simple minimal bike and want to take them off. Has anyone done away with their (oil pumped through the float bowls) carb heaters and have any stories to share? Can anyone see any reason why I shouldn't?
My only concern is - is the oil flow through the carbs part of the general lubrication flow for the engine (in which case I need to make a new line to attach between the current entry/exit points) or is it purely for the carb heaters (in which case I can simply blank it off)?
Thanks,
Brian
