xj600 on compare with similar moto's

my brother have a honda CB500 twin '99, and i have xj600 '91. yesterday we eventually meet on motorcycles and try some dynamics test.
brothers weight is about 100 kg, i weight about 88 kg and my rucksack about 15 - as so final weight is about the same. we do two attempts - on highest gear (6 th on both) accelerate from about 50 kmh to about 90 km, and from standstill to about 80 - 90 ( on xj600 - second gear end) - in both cases, to my surprise, honda get away from me :-O not very fast, but definitely - about to 3 - 7 motorcycle lengths. it was very surprise me, because xj600 have more horsepower, and 0-100 kmh dynamic parameter on xj600 also says, it be a faster :-O
also compare bikes in stand - honda looks really smaller after xj600, and more less weight. really weight difference is about 20 - 25 kilo ( xj600 is approx 212, cb500 - about 187 kg), but on feeleings, honda is considerably more less weight, and more easy handling, but also looks a smaller - after xj600 feelings like sit on child motorcycle
fuel consumption on honda also looks a bit less than on xj600 - on my brothers report, on mostly 80 - 90 kmh speed it gets 3.8 litres to 100 km, mine eat about 4.2 - 4.3 in similar mode....
