Hi, my name is Joe. I recently bought a 1992 XJ600 as a commuter bike to take some stress off my truck. I'm in Virginia US. I bought the XJ from a guy I work with, who clearly had no idea what he was doing. He stated he had been trying to get it running for a year. I had it home for less then 30 min and had it running. Now I'm no motorcycle technician or specialist, but the simple things are easy to check. In this case, he had blown the primary fuse while trying to jump start it with his truck.

Got it to start, but now cant seem to get it to stay running. Cyl 2 and 3 seem to barely get warm where 1 and 4 get really hot. There is a clear imbalance in the exhaust pulse also. When I finally got it to stay running long enough to heat up, I also noticed there was near zero throttle response, and that when hot there was smoke coming from the engine. I am utterly stumped. I have already ordered new seals, O-rings, and jets for the carbs. I got a new set of spark plugs, The guy had some old school autolites in it that are to cold a plug for the bike so I got the correct NGK CR8E's.

Any and all ideas and input would be most greatly appreciated....
