throwout arm, I need a bigger hammer.

I have gotten myself into a bit of Curious George situation. I just replaced my clutch cable. I was trying to adjust the the lock nuts as they where all the way forward towards the front wheel. I took out the throwout arm and now cant get it back in. I thought i could adjust the arm so the nuts are near the center of the threaded section of the cable housing.
