Differences between various years of the XJ600 (Seca II)

As a spinoff to Leightower's FJ600 thread, I'd like to start one on the yearly differences between the various years of XJ. Eventually, I'll turn this into a writeup and put it on The Wall for future use. Once we have the years of the Seca II hemmed out, we can add in the models and changes for the Divvy.

1992 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 9/1991 through 9/1992.
- Available in red or black.
- Engine painted silver.
- Two-piece front fairing with seam above and below the center of the headlight.
- Windscreen slides in behind the fairing. Well-nuts mount in windscreen.
- Small round plug on the right-hand side of the crankcase.
1993 Seca II:
- Manufacture dates from 10/1992 through 9/1993.
- Available in red or dark blue-green.
- Engine painted silver.
- Two-piece front fairing with seam above and below the center of the headlight.
- Windscreen slides in behind the fairing. Well-nuts mount in windscreen.
- Small round plug on the right-hand side of the crankcase.
1994 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 10/1993 through 9/1994.
- Available in smurf-blue or yellow.
- Engine painted silver.
- Minor revision made for 1994 model year:
- Fairing redesigned. One-piece front fairing with lower scoops.
- Windscreen mounts on-top of fairing (well nuts stay in fairing).
- Crankcase redesigned. A large round cover now bolts over the plug on the right-hand side of the crankcase.
1995 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 10/1994 through 9/1995.
- Only available in black.
- Engine painted silver.
- One-piece front fairing with lower scoops.
- Windscreen mounts on-top of fairing (well nuts stay in fairing).
- A large round cover now bolts over the plug on the right-hand side of the crankcase.
1996 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 10/1995 through 9/1996.
- Available in black or red.
- Engine color changed. Engine now painted black (though side covers remain graphite).
- One-piece front fairing with lower scoops.
- Windscreen mounts on-top of fairing (well nuts stay in fairing).
- Factory-fitted lower cowl (belly pan) now available on some models
- A large round cover now bolts over the plug on the right-hand side of the crankcase.
1997 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 10/1996 through 9/1997.
- Available in dark blue-green or blood red.
- Major revision made for 1997 model year.
- All fairings redesigned.
- Front fairing is now larger and supports the front signals.
- The headlight is redesigned to use the same unit from the FZR600/FZR1000.
- The windscreen is redesigned to fit the new fairing and the air-scoop has been removed.
- The tail fairing is redesigned and now features a two-piece side-fairing.
- The rearsets have been redesigned to provide a more angular support section to compliment the new tail.
- All models now feature the lower cowl (belly pan).
- Engine is painted black and feature graphite side covers.
- The voltage regulator is redesigned for better heat dissipation and the relays have been relocated to the righthand side. These are not compatible with the earlier models.
1998 Seca II:

- Manufacture dates from 10/1997 through 9/1998.
- Available in black or burgundy.
- Choke now mounted on the left-hand handlebar switch.
- This is the last year the Seca II was sold in the US market.
