The day started out so promising, the forecast was severe thunder storm warnings for today but I was pretty happy when I woke up, walked outside and saw blue sky peaking through the clouds. I checked the weather forecast and it looked like the storm blew through overnight, wicked, I could ride into work. The kids got up pretty easy, no fighting, ate their breakfast while I packed the bike. I came in had a second cup of coffee, smooched the family and went out to leave. I gave the bike a minute or two while I was throwing on my helmet and jacket and away I went for all of about 10 seconds...

I made it part way up the hill at the end of my gravel driveway and the bike stalled, guess it needed a minute or so more. I planted my foot as she leaned over and thought, this feels weird, and over she went :o . Not sure why I couldn't stop her, maybe the angle of the slope, who knows, but she went down, as soft as I could help her.

My kids were watching out the window and I saw my daughter turn to tell mommy. Well mommy came out, asked if I was o.k. (I was, just a shot to the pride) and then gave me a hand lifting the bike back up. My first thought was...CRAP! I just threw the belly pan on and now I've probably crushed it good...I'm quite happy to report that there was no damage. While the bike was lying down, I had a quick look and it seemed like it was propped up on the saddle bags, guess the bracket I made was nice and solid. I gave the bike a good once over and couldn't find much of anything, just a couple specks of stone dust on the shifter and the saddle bags. Lucky, lucky, lucky.

I fired her back up and left. Well, about 10 minutes into the drive I hit traffic. The storm must've blown out some lights because traffic was backed up as far as the eye could see. Single lane highway, no alternate routes at this point and a steady stream of traffic coming the other way. To top it all off I was stuck behind a car that must've had a seized caliper because all I could smell was burning brake fluid (it definitley was NOT the bike). I eventually got to work, what is usually a half hour cruise, turned into a solid hour, 30 minutes of which was stop and go.

Now, I've got a conference call for a while and then a pretty light day.

The suns shining and I did get to ride into work
