Hi, I am new to XJ Rider because I am just starting on my slightly used but highly miss treated 92' XJ600. It has only 6k miles on it but it was outside for about 7 years when I saved it. since I got it I have never ridden it, but sunk in about $1k in new and lightly used parts like, a Battery, tires, fuel cap, tank, petcock, and a carburetor cleaning that has not helped much. I have big dreams of this working and looking good. I know it has potential. I have to replace the fork seals and fork wipers witch looks kinda simple, even if I have never done a fork before. I removed the forks drained the oil removed the wipers and am trying to figure out how to remove the seals now. I took out the "retaining ring" (all rusty) on the seals but that is as far as I have made it. If you have any advise I would be grateful. Why I have this post going now is my fork springs. I pulled them out and one is tight spiral down and one is tight spiral up. Dose any one know witch way they should be orientated?
