Rear Shock

Hi again all,
I am also trying to find a rear shock replacement. Radare used the stock shock (700lb/in) from a Vstar 650. Will this be enough with my wife riding with me? Or should I replace the spring with the 900lb/in? Can I just replace the spring on the shock I already have on my bike? My shock has only 7k miles on it fyi
