Replacing Petcock & Fuel Pump

So I've left my bike sitting for a while after some running problems and I'm getting ready to delve back into it. I'm looking into finally changing out the petcock with the Acerbis I've seen recommended. I was under the impression that the fuel pump was no longer needed after the change but I've read more that tells me I still need it? So if I change out the petcock I just need to cap the vacuum fitting on the fuel pump and the carb?
I have taken the fuel pump apart whilst looking for issues with my bike so obviously I need to either rebuild it or replace it altogether. I was looking at a Polaris pump recommended on here but now I can't find the thread. I have little to no knowledge about bikes so I figure the Polaris would be my best (and cheapest) bet over a rebuild, since I don't want to botch it and have to rebuild it again or am I wrong there?
Also, I see the Acerbis Universal suggested but would there be anything wrong with the Acerbis Right? And can anybody recommend a gasket that I can order online? I'm hesitant to order a paste in case the petcock leaks and I have to reseal.
