I was wondering if anyone has retrofitted a gas gauge on their XJ, and how they went about it. I was thinking of modifying and installing one from a yamaha that came stock with them (yfz did I believe, also newer models mostly have them stock). Also could go the route of a simple float gauge on the cap, though that would be the least desirable as it would look hideous.

Tired of forgetting to fill up (out of sight out of mind) and running out of gas and on long trips having no idea how much fuel I have left.
