Tank swap?

So am looking at getting a second fuel tank so I can have the new fairings all sprayed up over winter and still use the bike.
I noticed
the 1999 XJ 900 tank is 24 litre and
My 1992 XJ 600 tank is 17 litre
Anyone know if there a direct swap?
