Fixed the oil pump drive gear pin, but.....

So I replaced the pin on the back of the clutch for the oil pump drive gear (there was a great deal of play) with a roll pin and allen key and it then fit super snug. Got it all back together and of course there is still a clunky rattle??? Draco mentioned shimming the smaller driven gear on the flat spot of the shaft? Anyone else ran into this? What was used as a shim? How is it retained? I imagine he is talking about shimming between the flat spot of the gear and the shaft?
