Hello, I'm Danny and just traded for a 92 Seca II. This is the first street bike I've owned since the early 90's. I've owned dirt bikes and ATV's off and on since I was 5 but had little interest in riding on the road. About a month ago the bug hit me again and I decided that I'd like to give street riding another try. I'm not a fan of cruisers or sport bikes and settled on finding an 80's Nighthawk 700sc. I had never even seen a Seca II, that I can remember. On my local Craigslist I saw an add for a 92 Seca II, wanting to trade for an economical daily driver. A few textes later, the deal was lined up.
The bike is in pretty good shape, with only 1 crack in the front right fairing. The crack starts at the headlight and goes back about 5 inches, not a hard repair. And there is a whole in the seat about a half inch long. The way I traded, I have less than $500 in the bike. Since I've had it I logged about 300 miles on it. It rides pretty good, plenty of power for my style of riding. The bike is pretty comfortable but could use a couple of things to suit my size a little better.
The first thing is the handle bars. The outside of my palms are taking more pressure that causes them to get sore quick. I think I'd like a bit straighter bars but not being about to get any specs on the bend, I'm not sure what bars would be a better fit. Me being tall (6'3"), I get allot more wind against my helmet than I like. I have been looking for a taller wind screen but it seems that I have the front fairing that offers no aftermarket replacement. The third thing, and the most aggravation is the suspension it harsh. I feel every little imperfection in the road. I've read about replacing the fork springs with progressive but first I want to change the fluid and adjust it to the proper height.
That's about all I can think of for now. Any suggestions on bars and/or suspension adjustments would be greatly appreciated. I've not taken any pictures of in but here is a couple sent to from the PO.
