Any Clue? Swingarm Paint and Rear Shock

Radare, makes things look to easy and I've noticed that he is the only one who has info stated on here about paint
the swingarm. Im getting ready to take my swing arm off but im lost on what is the best way to paint it so i dont have to deal w/ it again. How do you determine when its time for a new shock?
