It finally happened: had to hotwire the bike

coincidentally one of the first things i learned after buying an XJ was how to hotwire it. I knew this would come in handy at some point as I only received 1 key from the PO of my bike.
today for my son's first day of kindergarten i was playing musical chairs with my bike and wife's SUV and made a terrible mistake by leaving my XJ key at home as i drove to switch vehicles with my wife at her work.
upon realizing what needed to be done i felt fortunate my wife works at an automotive dealership and the materials i required for starting my bike without the key were literally on the ground in the employee parking lot.
rode home like this...

the supplies i found on the ground to make this work are now included in my tank-bag tool kit.
