Questions about supporting the front end

Hey, so I'm about to do my fok seals and I need to support the front end of the bike. I've seen on here that people use a steel rod thru the holes near the front of the engine. I have some spare rebar in the garage and wonder if that would be strong enough to hold it on stands? Maybe a few peices? I just don't want to attempt it and have it fail on me. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
