New to Riding, Need Gear

Since I am new to riding I have no gear outside of the helmet that came with my bike. I wanted to buy a new helmet as well as a jacket and possibly gloves for relatively cheap. I would like to keep my total bill under 350 if possible, any suggestions? I went to a local store today and found this equipment, any comments on this?
The Shift Trifecta SS Mesh Waterproof Jacket, and it is on closeout for $120
The RS-1, which I really liked the fit as compared to the Scorpion EXO 700 (too much pressure around my ears) and the 1000 (which was harder to get on and felt slight pressure on the front of my face) It's a little more then I wanted to spend at $220 and I'm not the biggest fan of the design
