Clutch acting weird

I got a 92 xj600 for free and it had been sitting outside for 5 years, not running. I have put a new gas tank on it,fuel filter, cleaned/rebuilt the carbs, new fork seals, bled the brake lines and did an oil change. Also build a stand, so i can use a jack to bring it off the ground. Surprisingly everything had been working. I am new to bikes.( i normally work on cars). It is not liscenced nor do i have an endorsement so i ride it on my back street, i noticed the clutch lever had way to much play so i started adjusting it. Yesterday i started it , sat on it,pulled the clutch in and put it in gear and it started going, there was nothing i could do to stop it except hit the kill switch. So i cycled the clutch a couple times, leaned the bike to the right to get the clutch wet with oil, still wouldnt move. Finally got it unstuck and now it acts fine and sometimes will get stuck again. Im running 10/30w oil. Any ideas? Before i open it up?
Thanks for any help and response!
Random question, most my carb intake boots a very cracked, what faults may that cause? Other then a vacuum leak? And i noticed the vacuum line from carb one that goes to the petcock had some gas on and in the line. Im assuming my petcock is leaking?
