How to remove the ignition switch? ('94 XJ600s)

Hello XJ community,
The blue wire got loose from ignition switch of '94 XJ600s. I have found THIS awesome article on this site about how to disassemble the switch once its in my hand, but mine doesnt seem to be removed ever so I still have shear head bolts fixing the switch from below.
Frankly removing them looks like a nightmare I'm wondering if anybody here could give me practical advices how to start it? Do I need to remove the fairing? (it seems I do). How an earth I should start, what kind of tools will I need etc. Most likely a naive question, but is there any shortcut?
