Sheared carb bowl drain screws

Hello,
my bike has stuck carb bowl drain screws. I managed to get one loose, but had no luck with the rest, since those already had pretty much destroyed heads when I bought it. The bike had some rust in the tank and the fine rust powder that got through the filter seized the threads. I probably could get the screws out, but I wouldnt want to put them back. New ones I found would cost over 50$ including shipping, which seems a bit too much to me... I will be cleaning the carbs thoroughly soon, and I will probably need to set the float heights again.
So here comes my question - from your experience, is it possible to get the levels accurate only by measuring the float height using a caliper? Have you ever needed to readjust the floats after checking the fuel level with the carbs back on bike?
Thank you for your feedback
