Hello,
Here is my XJR 400 project.
Location: Latvia
Bike: XJR 400 93'
Plans:
Cutting the tail of frame + powdercoat
Brakes refurbishment
Carburetor refurbishment
Fork refurbishment
Painting tank and front fender
Zync plating all screws etc
a lot off other stuff
Long story short:
got a bit damaged bike for very little money and giving it second life.
Plans:
Cutting the tail of frame + powdercoat
Brakes refurbishment
Carburetor refurbishment
Painting tank and front fender
Zync plating all screws etc
a lot off other stuff
as I got it in 2019 autumn, plan was to enjoy summer of 2020 on the bike, but real life and beer kicked in and enjoying the summer moved to 2021 : ))
Here are some pics:
October 2019 - meeting with previous owner and checking the bike.
It survived mild crash on side - handlebar is bent, fuel tank scratched and some minor other scratches.
We managed to start it (bike was in garage for arround 2-3 years) - of course it run pourly - so extra $$ of the price

here allready at new home

Those parts won't be needed and are for sale:

Disassembly of bike:

Meanwhile new set of tires (160 in back instead of 150)

Tail cutting and new seat aligning

some DIY polishing:

Paintwork:

Zync plating:

Challenge of putting everything back together

As usually - some leftovers

Some kind of result, still a lot to do, but getting there:

Updates will follow .
Some of challenges:
1. bought new speedo/tacho - same as original , but of course connectors are different so some soldering will be needed
2. relocating electric stuff in back of the bike
3. to make it street legal - I need to do reconstrucion project and to align it in local M.O.T / TUV institution
4. Get it up and running for summer 2021
