Hey y'all,

In today's issue of "It's not stupid if it works", Here's how I got my 97 MFR bike up and worked on the fairing/forks. A shop crane, and a heavy duty strap. There's also a second one you can't see, from the crane arm to the rated rafters. That one was kept pretty loose, just a fallback in case my luck went south, but it didn't.

Since then, I've also replaced the broken levers, turn signals, mirrors, put the windscreen back on, and added a center stand that I love.

But, a true labor of love is never finished. Now, the brake lights are always on... which feels like my fault, but I've poked around and can't find an actuator of any kind on the bars or foot pedal.. maybe it's because I switched to LED signals? Or because I'm an idiot.

Other new developments are a starting issue. When I first start it in the morning, it just goes "CLUNK" and I hear a hissing. If I hold/toggle the starter for 10-15 seconds, she starts up just fine though. There are no fuel leaks, and I've checked the carbs/vacuum lines, so I'm out of my depth here. Starter motor issue maybe?

I really appreciate any help y'all could give, reading through past threads helped me a ton with my rebuild work, and I really can't thank this sub enough. It was great for my state of mind to come home from physical therapy, and wrench on the bike for even just a minute or two. Made me feel like I wasn't half useless, and sped my recovery.

Thank's y'all,
Slim
