1998, XJ won't start, oil light

Hi, new to forum and hoping someone can help. I've just recently purchased an XJ 600 18,000, (Started on the button, no issues at all), road for a week in the rain to work and back oiling the chain every few days - The oil light started to come on intermittently whilst running.

Anyway, got up one morning (A few days ago), and nothing - None starter, just the oil light when pressing the start button.

I have already read up on related issues and checked the blue and white wire through the loom cleaning all block connections, and even changed the starter solinoid. Battery is good as it turns over quite rapidly when shorting the solinoid with a screw driver.
Bump starts easy too.

One thing I did notice was an airbox breather/or carb heater pipe was broken and full of brown gunk, as was the oil level checking window - I fixed this and topped up with a little extra oil.

I've also tried shorting the safety circuit at the pin connectors (Or a least what I think is mostly the safety circuit block connection according to other posts I have read) - Still no luck.
Any suggestions please, ide be very grateful.

PS: Bike was garaged by previous owner, just wondering if excessively oiling the chain and riding in torrential rain has caused an issue, or if even the oil sensor switch is gummed up - The starter clicks when turning on ignition, but can't hear any fuel pump sound (Don't know if I'm supposed to) - Oh, and I've checked all fuses.
Thanks
