Am i Doing this right? Valve Check

Hey guys Doing some maitenance on my bike. This is my first attempt at a valve clearance check in my life.
(***Just a note the bike runs completely fine, no problems starting, pulls really well in all rpms. Has typical Seca noise )
My readings were tight? I just want to make sure im doing this the right way before I move to check all of them and possibly change shims.
Ok this is what I did. tried the specified feeler and worked my way down under a thin enough gauge slid under the cam.
Cylinder #1 at TDC

Intake clearance should be .11mm - .15mm?
Tried .11 did not fit. went down until I got .07, got a lot of resistance. .06mm slid in and got a tad resistance coming out. Going by the book this is what I'm looking for.

Exahust clearence should be ,21mm-.25mm
.21 did not fit. .09mm worked.

Now If I am reading this right that is REALLY off?
Like I said this is my first time doing this, I was expecting it to be maybe .01-.02 mm off or am I wrong in expecting this?
Thanks for any help guys!
