Tell a new rider about the XJ, is it really as "boring" as everyone says?

Hi there. Ive been riding a 125 for jsut over a year and am about to go in for my bike test. ive already got an XJ600N as a project bike ive been working on and obviously haven't really ridden it yet. I bought my XJ on an impulse, was looking at japanese 500's for my big bike but saw the XJ and thought i might as well buy it as it seemed a bit more interesting than a parallel twin. Seemed to be a good idea as it sounds much better than a 500 and is apparently endlessly reliable and easy to ride but thats all i knew at purchase date.
Is the XJ600 honestly as boring as everyone says it is though? And if so how does it compare to the likes of the CB500, GPZ500 etc that i probably would have gotten anyways? At the end of the day im invested in it and theres no going back.
